ومنذ ذلك التاريخ، أصبح يوم 3 أيار/مايو مناسبة سنوية لإطلاع عامة الناس على الانتهاكات المرتكبة إزاء الحق في حرية التعبير ولتذكيرهم بأن العديد من الصحفيين يجازفون بحياتهم أو يتعرضون للسجن لكي يطلعونهم على المستجدات اليومية.

Since that time, May 3 has been an annual occasion to inform the public of violations of the right to freedom of expression and to remind people of the many journalists who risk death or imprisonment in order to bring them the daily news.
