How very timely are the words which he addressed to his friars: "I counsel, admonish and exhort my friars in the Lord Jesus Christ that, when they go throughout the world, they not quarrel and that they avoid verbal disputes, and that they not judge others; instead, they should be gentle, peaceful and modest, meek and humble, speaking sincerely with all, as is fitting" (Regula Bullata, Chapter III).

Muy actual es la invitación que dirigía a sus frailes: «Aconsejo, amonesto y exhorto a mis frailes en el Señor Jesucristo a que, cuando vayan por el mundo, no riñan, eviten las disputas de palabras, y no juzguen a los demás; por el contrario, sean bondadosos, pacíficos y modestos, mansos y humildes, hablando honradamente con todos, tal como conviene » (Regla, cap.
