1 CORINTHIANS 8 Concerning Food Sacrificed to Idols 1Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. 2Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. 3But whoever loves God is known by God. 4So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 7But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. 8But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do. 9Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? 11So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.

1 KORINTHIANYS 8 Taklow Offrynnys dhe Idolys 1Lemmyn a-dro dhe offrynnow dhe idolys, dell wodhon, ‘ni oll a'gan beus godhvos.’ Godhvos a dheg hwythfians, mes kerensa a dhrehav. 2Nebonan mar tyb ev dhe wodhvos neptra, ny woer na hwath kepar dell goedh dhodho godhvos; 3mes nebonan mar kar Duw, aswonnys ganso yth ywa. 4Rakhenna, a-dro dhe dhybri offrynnow dhe idolys, ni a woer ‘idol y'n bys ma dhe vos travyth’, ha ‘nag eus Duw vyth saw onan.’ 5Rag kynth eus duwow, dell yns gelwys, po yn nev po yn nor – dell yn hwir yma meur a dhuwow ha meur a arlydhi – 6hwath ragon nyni yma unn Duw, an Tas, dhiworth neb yw pup-tra, ha rag neb yth on ni, hag unn Arloedh, Yesu Krist, dre neb yw pup-tra ha dre neb yth on ni. 7Byttegyns, nyns yw peub a'n jeves an godhvos ma, mes re, drefenn aga howethyans kyns-lemmyn gans idolys, a dheber an boes avel boes offrynnys dhe idol, ha'ga howses, ow pos gwann, defolys yw. 8Boes ny wra agan kommendya dhe Dhuw; nyns on ni gweth mar ny dhybryn na gwell mar tybryn. 9Mes kemmerewgh with, dha livreson ma na dheffo ha bos war neb kor ken a drebuchya dhe'n re wann. 10Rag nebonan mara'th wel, ty dhen a wodhvos, owth esedha orth moes yn tempel idol, a ny vydh ev dynys, gwann y gowses, dhe dhybri offrynnow dhe idolys? 11Ytho, dre dha wodhvos, distruys yw an den gwann, an broder may ferwis Krist ragdho. 12Yndellma, ow pegha erbynn an vreder hag ow shyndya aga howses pan yw gwann, ty a begh erbynn Krist. 13Rakhenna, boes mar lett ow broder, nevra ny wrav vy dybri kig rag dout my dhe wul dhodho trebuchya.
