Verbal warnings given to the battalion commander did not produce the desired results, so Marchal wrote to him on 17 January 1994, stating that if this did not stop he would confine members of the Belgian battalion to their barracks after working hours.

Après avoir donné des avertissements verbaux au commandant du bataillon, qui pourtant ne produisent pas le résultat escompté, Marchal doit lui écrire, le 17 janvier 1994, pour lui dire que, si la situation ne s’améliore pas, il se verra dans l’obligation de consigner les membres du bataillon belge aux casernes quand ils ne seront pas de service.
