وتدعو هذه السياسة إلى تنسيق أعمال المكتبات في الأمم المتحدة والوكالات المتخصصة، بالقدر الممكن عمليا، من خلال تبادل المعلومات والمنشورات والموظفين، وعن طريق الانتقاء التعاوني، والفهرسة والتبويب وعن طريق إنشاء كتالوغ اتحادي وسجل للأنشطة البحثية والببليوغرافية.

The policy calls for coordination of library work in the United Nations and the specialized agencies, so far as feasible, through the exchange of information, publications and staff, through cooperative selection, indexing and cataloguing and through establishment of a union catalogue and register of research and bibliographical activities.

Las Normas disponen la coordinación del trabajo de biblioteca de las Naciones Unidas con los organismos especializados, hasta donde es posible, por medio del intercambio de información, de publicaciones y de personal; por la selección cooperativa, la formación de índices y catálogos, y por medio de un catálogo central y de un registro de investigaciones y actividades bibliográficas.
