At the present time, approximately 80 per cent of all softwood construction lumber produced in eastern Canadian regions is shipped from the sawmill in the kiln-dried condition. It is anticipated that market pressures will continue to drive the need for more kiln-drying capacity in all regions (SPF in the east, hem-fir and Douglas-fir in the west).
