Angesichts der Tragödie, die sich in der Überdruckkammer des Istituto Galeazzi in Mailand ereignete und bei der elf Personen ums Leben kamen, sowie in Anbetracht der Tatsache, daß das Gesundheitswesen zwar in den Kompetenzbereich der Mitgliedstaaten fällt, seit Maastricht jedoch für die Europäische Union Eingriffsmöglichkeiten bestehen, wird die Kommission aufgefordert, eine Richtlinie auszuarbeiten, die vorschreibt, daß die Patienten in der ganzen Europäischen Union vor Eintritt in eine Überdruckkammer ihre persönliche Kleidung ablegen und einen Schutzanzug oder ein anderes für die jeweilige Behandlung geeignetes Kleidungsstück anziehen müssen sowie daß in der ganzen Gemeinschaft die Sicherheitsstandards für alle Überdruckbehandlungszentren vereinheitlicht werden.

Eleven people died in a tragic incident in the hyperbaric chamber at the Galeazzi Institute in Milan. Although health matters are the responsibility of the Member States, the Maastricht Treaty has afforded some possibility for the Union to wield influence. Will the Commission therefore draw up a Directive stipulating that no patients may be admitted to any hyperbaric chamber in the Union unless they have first taken off their own clothes and put on overalls or some other garment appropriate for the treatment to be administered? Will it likewise make provision in the Directive to lay down uniform Community-wide safety standards for all hyperbaric medicine centres?

Teniendo en cuenta la tragedia ocurrida en la cámara hiperbárica del Instituto Galeazzi de Milán, donde se produjo la muerte de 11 personas, y considerando que, si bien el sector de la sanidad es competencia de los Estados miembros, la Unión Europea tiene, después del Tratado de Maastricht, posibilidades de influir en dicho sector, ¿podría la Comisión elaborar una directiva que establezca que la entrada a toda cámara hiperbárica de la Unión Europea se realizará únicamente después de que los pacientes se hayan despojado de su indumentaria personal y se hayan puesto un chándal u otra prenda de vestir completamente idónea para el tipo de tratamiento que debe efectuarse, y que en toda la Comunidad se homologuen las normas de seguridad para todos los centros de medicina hiperbárica?

Considerata la tragedia avvenuta nella camera iperbarica dell'Istituto Galeazzi di Milano in cui sono morte 11 persone, considerato che pur essendo vero che il settore della sanità è di competenza degli Stati membri, ma che, dopo Maastricht vi sono possibilità di incidere da parte dell'Unione europea, si chiede che la Commissione elabori una direttiva affinché l'ingresso in tutte le camere iperbariche dell'Unione europea avvenga solo dopo che i pazienti si siano spogliati degli indumenti personali ed abbiano indossato una tuta o altro indumento assolutamente idoneo al tipo di trattamento da effettuare, nonché in tutta la Comunità gli standard di sicurezza siano uniformati per tutti i centri di medicina iperbarica.
