وتعيش غالبية أفراد الشعوب الأصلية في العادة في مبنى متواضع أرضيته ترابية، وسقفه من القش أو الحديد المموج، وحوائطه من الخشب أو الطوب النيئ، ملحق به مساحة صغيرة من الأرض يزرعون فيها نباتات غذائية لأنفسهم.
