In a process for treating granular slag formed in blast furnaces, and in particular during the production of hematite iron and phosphoric iron, the granular slag is introduced into a washing and rinsing unit (1) to remove, by attrition and in a countercurrent of flowing water at neutral pH, fine particles less than 80 micrometres in size.
