وشملت الأنشطة الدعم لثلاث زمالات علمية في معهد وودز هول الأوقيانوغرافي في الولايات المتحدة، ودعم ثلاث زمالات لإجراء البحوث في المعهد الوطني للأوقيانوغرافيا في الهند، ودعم ثمانية مشاركين في أكاديمية رودس لقانون وسياسة المحيطات لعام 2009 ودعم التدريب العلمي العملي على استعمال تقنيات الاستكشاف في البحار العميقة عن طريق الرابطة الصينية للبحث والتطوير في ميدان الموارد المعدنية للمحيطات.

The activities included support for three scientific fellowships at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in the United States, support for three research fellowships at the National Institute of Oceanography of India, support for eight participants at the 2009 Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy and support for practical scientific training in deep-sea exploration techniques through the China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association.
