In a way, for me it was a needed reminder. It’s a reminder that the police are aligned fascist violence. That the police uphold state power. That the police exist to uphold the status quo, no matter how damaging that is for Cornish communities. It’s a reminder that if people are removed from that hotel for deportation to Rwanda—a real threat to some of the refugees there—or elsewhere, the police will be there helping. Ultimately, the biggest threat to refugees is not a small group of right wing nutters, who’ve been resoundingly humiliated all over the country this weekend—it’s the state.
