The process of the present invention includes preparing a first aqueous solution of rhenium in the form of radioactive perrhenate, wherein the concentration of rhenium in said solution is within the range of about 5 x 10?-6¿ M to about 2 x 10?-3¿ M, and then reducing and complexing the radioactive perrhenate by mixing a second solution or lyophilized solid with the first solution.
