He faced the boy, bristling and snarling, his sense of justice outraged. He knew the law of forage. All the wastage of meat, such as the frozen chips, belonged to the dog that found it. He had done no wrong, broken no law, yet here was this boy preparing to give him a beating.

طبعا از قانون مـباح بـودن مآکـولات بـه قـدر سد جوع اطلاع داشت و میدانست که سگها به موجب آن قانون حق دارند فضولات گوشت و استخوان را هر جا بیابند جمع کنند و بخورنده بنابراین خطایی نکرده و خلاف قانونی مرتکب نشده بود و با این حال پسربچه بیانصاف میخواست او را بزند
