Este comité adoptó las primeras medidas económicas por medio de Decretos Leyes, entre las que se cuentan: la liberación de precios de bienes y servicios, el establecimiento de una sola área cambiaria y la liberalización de las tasas de interés. Del mismo modo, se abocó a la reorganización de las empresas del Estado y a la normalización de las empresas intervenidas durante el gobierno de Allende.
