The Catalan Government and the Platform for the Defence of the Ebro(2) maintain that, to ensure the survival of the Ebro delta, an annual ecological flow rate of between 7 000 and 9 500 cubic hectometres is required. Such a flow rate will halt the erosion of the delta and the advance of the salt wedge, and will help meet the aim of ensuring a stable ecology for bodies of water.

El Gobierno catalán y la Plataforma en Defensa de l'Ebre(2) reivindican que, para garantizar la supervivencia del Delta del Ebro, se necesita un caudal ecológico de entre 7 000 y 9 500 hectómetros cúbicos anuales para detener la regresión del delta y el avance de la cuña salina, y para poder cumplir los objetivos de un buen estado ecológico de las masas de agua.
