Τρεις μεγάλες αποικίες έχουν αναφερθεί στα ηπειρωτικά: μία (τώρα πιθανόν μη υπάρχουσα), στα νησιά Ντάιον (Dion), έξω από τις δυτικές ακτές της Ανταρκτικής Χερσονήσου (Antarctic Peninsula), μία σε ένα ακρωτήρι στον παγετώνα Τέιλορ (Taylor) στο Αυστραλιανό έδαφος της Ανταρκτικής και, πιο πρόσφατα, μία στοn Κόλπο Αμούνδσεν (Amundsen Bay).

Three land colonies have been reported: one (now disappeared) on a shingle spit at the Dion Islands on the Antarctic Peninsula, one on a headland at Taylor Glacier in Victoria Land, and most recently one at Amundsen Bay.
