I got the title from a verse of Perucho’s, which the painter chose as title of his exhibition in Tecla Sala (“the gods give you the first verse / the rest is the task of the poet”), because the first time I saw the paintings of Vaccaro, in the Galeria Dau al Set, in an exhibition dedicated to Miquel Marti I Pol, I was reminded of an often repeated saying by Joan Miro, “I don’t distinguish between painting and poetry.” It is an aphorism belonging to the twenties, when Miro cited in his paintings from the words of Apollinaire to verses of Paul Eluard or of Tristan Tzara and we heard him repeat in the last years when he espoused poetry of Foix or of Brossa.

Saco el titulo de un verso de Perucho que el pintor escogió como portada de su gran exposición en Tecla Sala "los dioses te dan el primer verso/ el resto es tarea de poeta", porque ya la primera vez que vi la pintura de Vaccaro, en la Galeria Dau al Set, en una exposición dedicada a Miquel Martí i Pol, me hizo pensar en un dicho de Joan Miró, tan repetido "No distingo entre pintura y poesía". Era un aforismo muy suyo de los años veinte, cuando Miro citaba en su pintura desde palabras de Apollinaire hasta versos de Paul Eluard o de Tristan Tzara, y que le oímos repetir en los últimos años cuando glosaba la obra poética de Foix o de Brossa.
