Regardless of the controversies about its primacy, it is true that this establishment is an example of a humanitarian tradition which, materialized in the creation of a number of psychiatric institutions in Spain and America, lasted until the beginning of the 19th century and which influenced- in this case through the descriptions of the psychiatric hospital of Zaragoza- the work of Philippe Pinel, the well-known leader of the psychiatric reform.

XIX y que influye -en este caso a través de las descripciones del Manicomio de Zaragoza- en la obra del más conocido adalid de la reforma psiquiátrica,
