In the meantime, a body consisting of leaders of the Hungarian Jazz Alliance and a number of outstanding domestic jazz musicians have been quietly negotiating for more than a year with the Culture Ministry, with the hope of persuading the government to treat improvisational contemporary and jazz music in the same category as classical music, and to acknowledge it as an integral part of Hungarian culture.

Mindeközben jóval halkabban, ám annál nagyobb sikerrel tárgyal lassan egy éve a Magyar Dzsessz Szövetség vezetőiből és több kiemelkedő hazai dzsesszzenészből álló grémium a kulturális tárcával annak érdekében, hogy a magyar improvizatív kortárs- és dzsesszzenét, a komolyzenéhez hasonlóan, a magyar kultúra szerves részeként kezelje az állam.
