In Mitteleuropa bekannt wurde die Ukulele durch den Billy Wilder -Film Manche mögen's heiß ("Some like it hot"), in dem Marilyn Monroe als Sugar eine Ukulele spielt. Heute wird die Ukulele unter anderem von Götz Alsmann und auch durch Stefan Raab verwendet.
