Als Resultat des Bayerischen Erbfolgekriegs von 1778/79 und dem anschließenden Frieden von Teschen wurden dem Herzogtum Österreich von Passau im Norden bis Salzburg im Süden alle Gebiete östlich der Salzach und des Inns zugesprochen.
