In 2013, Australia adopted the Sex Discrimination Amendment (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Act – the first law to include intersex status as a stand-alone prohibited ground of discrimination. The Australian Senate has also carried out an official inquiry into the involuntary or coerced sterilization of intersex people.

सन् २०१३ मा अष्ट्रेलियाले यौन अभिमुखिकरण, लैङ्गिक पहिचान र अन्तर्लिङ्गी स्थिति ऐन Sex Discrimination Amendment (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Act जारी गरे । अन्तर्लिङ्गी गुणका आधारमा विभेदलाई निषेधित गर्ने यो पहिलो स्वतन्त्र कानुन बन्न पुग्यो । अष्ट्रेलियन सीनेटले अन्तर्लिङ्गी व्यक्तिहरूलाई स्वइच्छा बिना वा बाध्यात्मक ढङ्गले गरिने बन्ध्याकरण बारे औपचारिक सोधपुछ गरेका छन् ।
