وقال إن أورغواي ظلت تدعم على الدوام جمهورية الأرجنتين في مطالبتها بالسيادة الشرعية على جزر مالفيناس، وجزر جورجيا الجنوبية وجزر ساندوتش الجنوبية والمناطق البحرية المحيطة بها ليس لأن الأرجنتين جارتها فحسب ولكن أيضاً بسبب الأسس الجغرافية والتاريخية والقانونية التي تستند إليها تلك المطالبة.

Uruguay had consistently supported the Argentine Republic’s legitimate sovereignty claim over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia Islands and South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime areas not solely because Argentina was its neighbour, but also because of the geographical, historical and legal basis for that claim.
