The Department, with backing from the Organization of American States project to expand bilingual education to six linguistic communities (Tzutujil, Q’anjobal, Chuj, Achí, Uspanteco and Poqomam), has over the past two years catered for 27,500 students (male and female), issued and approved 14 teaching guides and 24 textbooks in the various languages, and trained 530 teachers.

Esta Dirección con el apoyo del Proyecto OEA para la expansión de la educación bilingüe a seis comunidades lingüísticas (Tzutujil, Q'anjobal, Chuj, Achí, Uspanteco y Poqomam), ha alcanzado los siguientes resultados en los últimos dos años: 27.500 alumnos y alumnas atendidos, 14 guías didácticas y 24 textos en los distintos idiomas elaborados y validados y 530 maestros/as capacitados/as.

Au cours des deux années écoulées, et grâce au projet mis en place par l'OEA pour étendre l'enseignement bilingue à six communautés linguistiques (Tzutujil, Q'anjobal, Chuj, Achí, Uspanteco et Poqomam). Ces efforts ont abouti aux résultats suivants : inscription de 27 500 élèves, élaboration et homologation de 14 manuels pédagogiques et de 24 manuels scolaires dans les différentes langues et formation de 530 enseignants/enseignantes.
