The Commission acknowledged that the villages and towns of Ferrol, Narón, Mugares, Ares and Fene are dumping urban and industrial waste-water directly into the estuary. They are in flagrant breach of Council Directive 91/271/EEC concerning urban waste-water treatment, since they are not ensuring any form of treatment for this water.

La Comisión Europea reconoció que los pueblos y ciudades de Ferrol, Narón, Mugares, Ares y Fene están vertiendo aguas residuales urbanas e industriales directamente a la ría, incumpliendo flagrantemente la Directiva 91/271/CEE sobre el tratamiento de aguas residuales urbanas al no garantizar tratamiento alguno de estas aguas.
