Substantially, the Psittacidae are endemic to the equatorial and sub-equatorial pluvial forests of South America, Asia and Africa, whilst the members of the Cacatuidae family and of the Loriinae subfamily and the Strigopidae, besides these regions, in lesser density, do live, on the contrary, mainly in Oceania, Far East, Hawaiian archipelago, Fiji islands and Philippines archipelago.

Sostanzialmente gli Psittacidae sono endemici delle foreste pluviali equatoriali e subequatoriali dell’America meridionale, Asia e Africa, mentre i membri delle famiglia dei Cacatuidae, della sottofamiglia dei Loriinae e degli Strigopidae, oltre che in queste regioni, in densità minore, vivono invece principalmente in Oceania, estremo Oriente, arcipelago Hawaiano, isole Figi, e arcipelago delle Filippine.
