Die Herausforderung bestand also darin, ein System zu entwickeln, das einerseits die effiziente Herstellung von Stoffen in Serie ermöglichte, gleichzeitig aber auch die notwendige Flexibilität besaß, um jedes Mal eine andere Art von Segel herzustellen: hohe handwerkliche Qualität also verbunden mit den typischen Planungs- und Herstellungszeiten einer Serie.

The challenge has been to set-up a system which allows the effective production of series pieces but which also has the flexibility of producing a different sail each time: therefore combining high quality craftsmanship and design but with manufacturing times of mass production.

El reto ha consistido en introducir un sistema que permite la realización de piezas en serie de manera eficaz, pero que posee también la flexibilidad necesaria para realizar cada vez una vela diferente: esto es, alta calidad artesanal pero con tiempos de programación y realización propios de la producción en cadena. Gran flexibilidad, facil de usar, alta eficacia de producción y costes limitados son las características que en quince anños de trabajo han hecho de plotter/cutter FMG el sistema de producción más difundido entre los fabricantes de vela.
