The method comprises providing a piezoelectric ultrasound transducer comprising a piezoelectric element operable in flexural mode, receiving a acoustic signal by the piezoelectric element, applying a DC bias to the piezoelectric element prior to receiving the acoustic signal and/or concurrently with receiving the acoustic signal, and generating an enhanced receive signal from the piezoelectric element as a result of receiving the acoustic signal by the piezoelectric element. pMUT-based imaging probes using the above method are also described.

Ledit procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : fourniture d'un transducteur à ultrasons piézoélectrique comprenant un élément piézoélectrique activable en mode courbure; réception d'un signal acoustique par l'élément piézoélectrique; application d'une polarisation de courant continu à l'élément piézoélectrique avant la réception du signal acoustique et/ou en même temps que la réception du signal acoustique; et génération d'un signal de réception amélioré à partir de l'élément piézoélectrique suite à la réception du signal acoustique par l'élément piézoélectrique.
