The documents we have here are full of so many technical details that one might get the impression that we were all specialists in this area. Should we not spend our time instead on together preventing fish and shellfish being fished during their breeding periods in general, on ensuring that animals, plants and seas remain viable food providers long into the future, on giving the animals that we eat a reasonable life for their species before they are humanely slaughtered?

Los documentos que tenemos ante nosotros están tan repletos de detalles técnicos que podría pensarse que somos todos especialistas en la materia, pero ¿no deberíamos emplear nuestro tiempo en colaborar para evitar la pesca de marisco y peces durante los períodos de reproducción en general, para garantizar que los animales, las plantas y los mares continúan siendo fuentes viables de alimento en el futuro, para proporcionar a las especies de animales de las que nos alimentamos una vida razonable antes de ser sacrificados por el hombre?
