A fundamental element of the implementation of the programme to strengthen the regulatory authority is the training of a group of professionals from the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and from monitoring and support institutions, such as Civil Defence, the National Integrated Customs and Tax Administration Service (SENIAT), the National Guard, the Fire Department and the National Institute of Land Transport and Transit — with a special emphasis on the new professionals entering the General Directorate for Atomic Energy — on topics related to monitoring and control, sources of ionizing radiation and radiation-generating equipment, radiological protection, transport, customs and border control, waste management, etc.
