وأود في هذا المقام أن ألفت الانتباه إلى أن العهد يقدم توجيهات مهمة من شأنها أن تساعد الدول الأطراف على اعتماد سياسات مناسبة تتصدى للتقهقر الاقتصادي في الوقت الذي تحترم فيه الحقوق الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية.

In this context, I wish to highlight that the Covenant also provides important guideposts which can help States parties to adopt appropriate policies that deal with the economic downturn while respecting economic, social and cultural rights.
