As I said to the developers when I went to speak to the RenewableUK conference and in meetings with umbrella organisations, it is important that transport issues are looked at early on in the planning application process, because we know that what makes up a turbine is very big and heavy and that we therefore need to be careful that the appropriate bodies that facilitate and regulate the use of highways—the police and county councils in Wales and England, the Highways Agency, and WAG itself as a trunk road authority—work together to enable wind turbine components to be brought to site safely.
