Por su parte, las fuerzas opositoras exiliadas en España Partido del Progreso de Guinea Ecuatorial, Unión Popular, Acción Popular de Guinea Ecuatorial y Movimiento de Autodeterminación de la Isla de Bioko expresaron su “verdadera satisfacción y alegría” por la liberación de los presos políticos, pero recordaron que “existe todavía un gran número de opositores encarcelados, muchos de los cuales no sabemos en qué establecimiento penitenciario están recluidos o si han muerto como consecuencia de las torturas, hecho que ha venido siendo habitual en nuestro país durante los últimos años”.
