Aleix Espargaró arrived on the World Championship scene having become the youngest ever rider to win the 125cc Spanish National Championship in 2004. This success gave him the opportunity to join the Seedorf RC3 Racing Team and at just 15 years of age the Spanish rider showed glimpses of his talent in 2005 during his first full 125cc World Championship season, finishing 16th overall having amassed 36 points in total.
