Among the criteria of authenticity that my great predecessor Paul VI set on ecclesial movements in the Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi, there is one that deserves to be meditated upon attentively: the "communautés de base", small communities, Paul VI said, will be "a place of evangelization" and "a hope for the Church" if they "remain firmly attached to the local Church in which they are inserted, and to the universal Church, thus avoiding the very real danger of becoming isolated within themselves, then of believing themselves to be the only authentic Church of Christ, and hence of condemning the other ecclesial communities" (58).

Entre los criterios de autenticidad que mi gran predecesor Pablo VI señalaba a los Movimientos eclesiales en su Exhortación Apostólica Evangelii nuntiandi, hay uno que merece ser meditado atentamente: «"Las comunidades de base" —decía Pablo VI— serán "lugar de evangelización" y "esperanza para la Iglesia". si permanecieren 'firmemente unidas a la Iglesia particular, en la que se insertan y a la Iglesia universal, evitando así el peligro de aislarse en sí mismas, de creerse después la única auténtica Iglesia de Cristo, y por lo tanto, de anatematizar a las otras comunidades eclesiales» (núm. 58).

Tra i criteri di autenticità che il mio grande predecessore Paolo VI poneva ai movimenti ecclesiali nell’Esortazione Apostolica Evangelii Nuntiandi, ve n’è uno che merita di essere attentamente meditato: le “comunità di base”, Paolo VI diceva, saranno “luogo di evangelizzazione” e “speranza per la Chiesa” se resteranno “fermamente attaccate alla Chiesa particolare, nella quale si inseriscono e alla Chiesa universale, evitando così il pericolo di isolarsi in se stesse, di credersi poi l’unica autentica Chiesa di Cristo, e quindi di anatemizzare le altre comunità ecclesiali” (Paolo VI, Evangelii Nuntiandi, 58).
