Its achievements included restoring mangrove swamps, monitoring the coastal environment, rehabilitating living marine resources and implementing a collaborative programme between Mexico and the United States, following the oil leak from the Macondo well and the collapse of the Deepwater Horizon rig in April 2010.

Entre los logros cabe destacar la labor de restauración de manglares, la vigilancia ambiental de las costas, la recuperación de recursos marinos vivos y la puesta en marcha de un programa de colaboración entre México y los Estados Unidos en el contexto del derrame de petróleo del pozo Macondo y la caída de la plataforma Deepwater Horizon ocurrida en abril de 2010.
