In the case of Latin American, and from an institutional point of view, we should also remember that there are several on-going integration projects, not just a single one. They may be ‘north-south’ such as the Free Trade Area of the Americas, or ‘south-south’ agreements such as Mercosur, the Andean Community, and the recently launched South American Community of Nations.

En el caso de América Latina, y desde un punto de vista institucional, debe tenerse en cuenta, además, que, en lugar de uno solo, existen múltiples procesos de integración en marcha, ya se trate de procesos «norte-sur» como el Área de Libre Comercio de las Américas, o de acuerdos «sur-sur» como Mercosur, la Comunidad Andina, o la recién creada Comunidad Sudamericana de Naciones.
