The carvings were crafted by a master craftsman of the day, Shimamura Genz�, and over fifty types of raised-pattern style "jibori" carvings were made. Filled with elaborate pieces, the shrine is characterised in particular by carvings of waves  influenced by Hiroshige of the ukiyo-e art genre and carvings from Hikawa Festival floats. In this way, in 1956 Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine was designated as a Saitama Prefectural Cultural Property for being a shrine construction representative of the late Edo period.

당대 조각의 명인, 시마무라 겐죠의 손을 거친 오십 종류가 넘는 지보리 기법 (문양을 입체적으로 들떠 보이게 하는 조각 기법)의 정교한 조각들로 채워져 있으며, 특히 우키요에(에도시대에 성립된 일본의 풍속화풍)의 대표 화가 히로시게의 영향을 받은 물결 문양이나 히카와 제례에서 사용되는 다시(장식 수레)에서 소재를 가져온 조각이 특징입니다. 가와고에히카와신사는 에도시대 후기의 대표적인 신사 건축물로서 쇼와 31년(1956년)에 사이타마현 문화재로 지정되었습니다.
