Consideration is currently being given to requesting the reopening this line under the aegis of the Connecting Europe Faculty. The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency believes it to be an efficient, safe and high-quality service, with logistical solutions that will help both ports reposition themselves as major transport nodes in the Atlantic Arc and promote multimodal transport throughout the Atlantic Corridor.

Actualmente se plantea solicitar la reapertura, mediante el Mecanismo «Conectar Europa» (MCE), de esta vía marítima que la Agencia Ejecutiva de Innovación y Redes considera un servicio eficiente, seguro y de alta calidad, con soluciones logísticas que mejorarán la posición de los dos puertos como importantes nodos de transporte en el Arco Atlántico y fomentarán la multimodalidad a lo largo del Corredor Atlántico.
