Problems derived of the malposition of the catheter. Epidural catheters can curl and turn on themselves in the epidural space and actually form a knot such that be difficult to remove. This complication is usually due to attempts to advance excesive length of the catheter in the epidural space more than 3 cm (advance the catheter into the epidural space no more than 3 cm).

Problemas Derivados por la Posición del Catéter El dejar una longitud exagerada del catéter en el espacio epidural, puede ocasionar que éste se enrolle en un nervio raquídeo o forme un nudo [ver caso clínico], lo cual dificulta su remoción del espacio, o bien que al momento de hacer esta maniobra el catéter se rompa y quede un segmento del mismo en el espacio epidural.
