وفي الوقت الحالي، تتعاون مؤسسة الولايات المتحدة للمسح الجيولوجي، ومؤسسة الحفاظ على الطبيعة، والمعهد الدولي للحراجة المدارية التابع لدائرة الغابات في وزارة الزراعة الأمريكية، على اصدار خرائط للكساء النباتي/الغطاء الأرضي بشأن جزر البحر الكاريـبي استنادا الى صور راسم الخرائط الموضوعية المركّب على متن الساتل لاندسات، والى سائر البيانات المستشعرة عن بعد.

Currently, the United States Geological Survey, the Nature Conservancy and the International Institute of Tropical Forestry of the United States Department of Agriculture are collaborating to produce vegetation/land-cover maps for the islands of the Caribbean based on Landsat Thematic Mapper satellite images and other remotely sensed data.

En la actualidad el USGS, la organización Nature Conservancy y el Instituto Internacional de Silvicultura Tropical del Servicio de Silvicultura del Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos están colaborando en la elaboración de mapas de la cubierta vegetal y terrestre de las islas del Caribe tomando como base imágenes obtenidas mediante satélite del Instrumento de cartografía temática del Landsat y otros datos de teleobservación.

В настоящее время Служба геологии, геодезии и картографии Соединенных Штатов Америки, Общество охраны природы, Международный институт тропических лесов Министерства сельского хозяйства Соединенных Штатов Америки сотрудничают в составлении карт растительного/наземного покрова островов Карибского бассейна на основе спутниковых изображений, полученных с помощью тематического картографа "Лэндсат", и других данных дистанционного зондирования.
