A method for providing an online football game includes the steps of: (a) allowing a team formation to be set according to the offense and defense types of the opposing team when the user selects league play from among the game modes of the online football game; (b) executing the league play according to the set team formation, and, when the league play is finished, storing the formation information and league records information based on the league play; (c) analyzing the formation information and the league records information to output news on the user's team or players to a football news pop-up page; and (d) maintaining or changing the formation on the basis of the formation news according to the user's selection when formation news including formation content regarding whether to adapt to the formation is added to the football news.
