Die Ergebnisse sind verglichen mit anderen Studien überraschend: 52% der Befragten nahmen sechs Monate nach der Entlassung aus der stationären Behandlung keine Opiate, 24% hatten während der sechs Monate keinen Opiat-Rückfall, weitere 28% waren zwar rückfällig, aber hatten den Opiat-Gebrauch daraufhin aufgegeben und waren zum Zeitpunkt der letzten Befragung abstinent.

Compared to the results of other studies it is surprising to report that 6 months after discharge from the inpatient treatment 52% of the subjects were not using opiates. Of the total sample 24% had remained abstinent from opiates throughout the entire 6 months and a further 28% had used opiates, but had subsequently given up and were not using at the 6 months follow-up point.
