وقام فريق من الخبراء، تحت إشراف الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية، بإجراء تقييم شامل ومستقل وموضوعي للحالة الإشعاعية راهناً ومستقبلاً في جزر موروروا وفانغاتوفا المرجانيتين، وخلص في تقريره المنشور عام 1998 والمعنون (الحالة الإشعاعية بجزيرتي موروروا وفانغاتوفا المرجانيتين) إلى عدم وجود أي خطر.

A team of experts under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducted a comprehensive, independent and objective evaluation of the present and future radiological conditions of the atolls of Mururoa and Fangataufa and concluded, in its 1998 report The Radiological Situation at the Atolls of Mururoa and Fangataufa, that there was no risk.
