Ziel des Aktionsplans war es, zur Marktdurchdringung der 16:9-Empfänger beizutragen und 1997 einen Bestand von etwa 2 Millionen solcher Empfänger zu erreichen; die Kommission glaubt an die kommerzielle Zukunft des 16:9-Formats, sie ist der Auffassung, daß der Markt bedeutende Fortschritte erzielt hat, und sieht kein Folgeprogramm zu diesem Aktionsplan vor.

Ο στόχος του σχεδίου δράσης ήταν να συμβάλει στη διείσδυση των δεκτών στην αγορά και με βάση περίπου δύο εκατομμύρια δέκτες 16:9 το 1997 η Επιτροπή πιστεύει στο εμπορικό μέλλον του σχήματος 16:9 και θεωρεί ότι η αγορά έχει σημειώσει σημαντικές προόδους και ότι δεν έχει προβλεφθεί συνέχεια στο σχέδιο δράσης.

The aim of the Action Plan was to boost the market penetration of 16:9 sets, and with an installed base of some two million sets forecast for 1997, the Commission is convinced that the format has a commercial future. It considers that the market has achieved major progress, and has therefore not planned a sequel to the Action Plan.

Lo scopo del piano d'azione era di contribuire alla penetrazione dei ricevitori sul mercato e, con una base di circa due milioni di ricevitori 16:9 prevista nel 1997, la Commissione europea crede nell'avvenire commerciale del 16:9, ritiene che il mercato abbia fatto importanti progressi, e non ha pertanto previsto un seguito al piano d'azione.

Het doel van het actieplan was bij te dragen tot de marktpenetratie van breedbeeldontvangstapparatuur; met een prognose van 2 miljoen 16:9-toestellen in 1997 heeft de Commissie vertrouwen in de commerciële toekomst van het 16:9-formaat en vindt zij dat de markt aanzienlijke vooruitgang heeft geboekt; bijgevolg heeft de Commissie geen vervolg op het actieplan voorgesteld.
