বাংলাদেশে মনিরা রহমান এবং ডঃ জন মরিসন একসঙ্গে উক্ত সংগঠনের অনেক উন্নতি সাধন করেন। ১২মে ১৯৯৯ তারিখে জনাব কাজী ফজলুর রহমানের অছি-দলিলের অধীনে এসিড সারভাইভরস ফাউন্ডেশন আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ডঃ জন মরিসন ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা কার্যনির্বাহী পরিচালক এবং মনিরা রহমানকে উপ-পরিচালক করে পরিচালনা পর্ষদ গঠন করা হয়। আগস্ট ২০০২ সালে মনিরা প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা হন। সেই সময় বাংলাদেশে এসিড আক্রমণের ঘটনা প্রতি বছর ৩৮% হারে বাড়ছিলো। কিন্তু তার নেতৃত্বে এসিড বিরোধী সামাজিক আন্দোলনের জন্য ২০১০ সালের মধ্যে তা ৭৫% কমে যায়। তিনি ২০০৬ সালে অ্যামনেস্টি ইন্টারন্যাশনাল (আন্তর্জাতিক মানবধিকার কমিশন) থেকে তিনি মানবধিকার রক্ষক পুরস্কার, ২০০৯ সালে ইউএনএফপিএ পুরস্কার এবং ২০১০ সালে বিশ্ব শিশু পুরস্কার লাভ করেন।

Monira Rahman and Dr John Morrison together developed the Acid Survivors Foundation in Bangladesh. The Acid Survivors Foundation was officially established on 12 May 1999 under a Trust Deed by Mr Kazi Fazlur Rahman. Dr John Morrison was the Founder Executive Director of the Foundation and Monira Rahman was the Deputy Director. Since August 2002, Monira Rahman become its Chief Executive Officer. When Monira Rahman took over the CEO position, the number of acid attack was increasing at the rate of 38% each year. But under her leadership a social movement is continuing which resulted 75% reduction of acid attack by the year 2010. Monira Rahman won Amnesty International's Human Rights Defenders Award 2006, Americans for UNFPA award 2009 and World's Children's Prize 2010.
