Die Bahnhöfe in Mühlburg und Durlach wurden an anderer Stelle neu errichtet und die bisher in Durlach endenden Gleise der Strecke nach Mühlacker bis zum neuen Hauptbahnhof verlängert, so dass sich eine viergleise Trassierung zwischen Durlach und Karlsruhe ergab.
