في 29 حزيران/يونيه 2007، اعتمد مجلس الأمن بيانا صادرا عن رئيسه (S/PRST/2007/24) لاحظ فيه مجلس الأمن مرة أخرى مع بالغ القلق، في جملة أمور أن تراكم الأسلحة الصغيرة والأسلحة الخفيفة الذي يبعث على زعزعة الاستقرار والاتجار غير المشروع بها، في مناطق عديدة من العالم، يزيد من حدة الصراعات المسلحة، وإطالة مدتها، ويقوض استدامة اتفاقات السلام، ويعوق نجاح بناء السلام، ويحبط الجهود الرامية إلى منع الصراعات المسلحة، ويعرقل بشكل كبير تقديم المساعدة الإنسانية، وينتقص من فعالية مجلس الأمن في الاضطلاع بمسؤوليته الرئيسية عن صون السلام والأمن الدوليين.

On 29 June 2007, the Security Council adopted a statement by its President (S/PRST/2007/24), by which, among other things, the Council noted once again with grave concern that the destabilizing accumulation and illicit manufacture, trade and circulation of small arms and light weapons in many regions of the world increases the intensity and duration of armed conflicts, undermines the sustainability of peace agreements, impedes the success of peacebuilding, frustrates efforts aimed at the prevention of armed conflict, hinders considerably the provision of humanitarian assistance, and compromises the effectiveness of the Security Council in discharging its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.

El 29 de junio de 2007, el Consejo de Seguridad aprobó una declaración de la Presidencia (S/PRST/2007/24) en que, entre otras cosas, el Consejo volvió a observar con profunda preocupación que la acumulación desestabilizante y la fabricación, el tráfico y la circulación ilícitos de armas pequeñas y armas ligeras en muchas regiones del mundo acrecentaban la intensidad y la duración de los conflictos armados, socavaban la sostenibilidad de los acuerdos de paz, obstaculizaban la consolidación de la paz, frustraban los esfuerzos por prevenir los conflictos armados, dificultaban considerablemente el suministro de asistencia humanitaria y comprometían la eficacia del Consejo de Seguridad en el cumplimiento de su responsabilidad primordial de mantener la paz y la seguridad internacionales.

Le 29 juin 2007, le Conseil de sécurité a adopté une déclaration de son président (S/PRST/2007/24) dans laquelle, notamment, il a noté en s’en préoccupant vivement que l’accumulation déstabilisatrice et la fabrication, le commerce et la circulation illicites des armes légères et de petit calibre dans de nombreuses régions du monde accroissaient l’intensité et la durée des conflits armés, nuisaient à la viabilité des accords de paix, faisaient obstacle au succès de la consolidation de la paix, contrariaient les initiatives visant à prévenir les conflits armés, entravaient considérablement l’acheminement de l’aide humanitaire, et entamaient l’aptitude du Conseil à s’acquitter efficacement de sa responsabilité principale, le maintien de la paix et de la sécurité internationales.

29 июня 2007 года Совет Безопасности утвердил заявление своего Председателя (S/PRST/2007/24), в котором Совет, в частности, вновь с глубокой озабоченностью отметил, что дестабилизирующее накопление и незаконные производство, торговля и оборот стрелкового оружия и легких вооружений во многих регионах мира обостряют и затягивают вооруженные конфликты, подрывают устойчивость мирных соглашений, препятствуют успеху миростроительства, срывают усилия, нацеленные на предотвращение вооруженных конфликтов, серьезно препятствуют оказанию гуманитарной помощи и снижают эффективность деятельности Совета Безопасности в плане реализации его главной ответственности за поддержание международного мира и безопасности.
