In June 2002, the three funding agencies, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), signed an MOU with the institutions that they fund, which outlines their respective roles and responsibilities in the management of federal grants and awards.

En janvier 2002, les trois organismes subventionnaires, soit les Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IRSC), le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines (CRSH) et le Conseil de recherches en sciences naturelles et en génie (CRSNG), ont signé un PE avec les établissements qu'ils subventionnent, précisant leurs rôles et responsabilités respectives en ce qui a trait à la gestion des subventions et bourses fédérales.
