Tisíciletí mucednické smrti svatého Vojtecha, které jsem slavil v Praze a v Hradci Králové v roce 1997 (tisíc devet set devadesát sedm), bylo historickou chvílí velké dulezitosti, které dávalo zamýšlet se na krestanskými koreny Ceské Republiky, ale tak nad dedictvím, jez dostala od velkého biskupa, jakoz i od ostatních ceských, moravských a slezských svetcu pro zalození jedné a svobodné Evropy, verící v evangelium.

The millennium of St Adalbert's martyrdom, which I celebrated in Prague and Hradec Králové in 1997, was an important historical moment which prompted us to reflect not only on the Christian roots of the Czech Republic, but also on the heritage it received from that great Bishop and from other Bohemian, Moravian and Silesian saints, in order to establish a united, free Europe that believes in the Gospel.

Il millennio del martirio di sant’Adalberto, che ho celebrato a Praga e a Hradec Králové nel 1997, è stato un momento storico di grande importanza, che ha fatto meditare non solo sulle radici cristiane della Repubblica Ceca, ma anche sull’eredità ricevuta da quel grande Vescovo, come dagli altri santi boemi, moravi e slesiani, per la fondazione di un’Europa una, libera e credente nel Vangelo.

O milénio do martírio de Santo Adalberto, que celebrei em Praga e em Hradec Králové, em 1997, foi um momento histórico de grande importância, que fez meditar não só sobre as raízes cristãs da República Tcheca, mas também sobre a herança recebida daquele grande Bispo, como dos outros santos da Boémia, da Morávia e da Silésia, para a fundação de uma Europa unida, livre e crente no Evangelho.
